Total Spent for January: 71.63, total remaining 28.37

I am permitting myself to go over $100 in January, simply because of the number of items that I am purchasing on rebate. I generally get aboutt $50 (sometimes more) back in rebates in February and March from purchases made in January. I am starting fresh this year (I'm not counting the rebates I am getting in from December, $70 so far) so I have a little way to go to get back to the point where I am rolling the way that I was.

Ok, so here is what I did today:

Rite Aid

Listerine 500ml, $3.50
Slimquick Appetite Control, 19.99
Slimquick Appetite Control, 19.99
Laci Slim Mix, $2.49 (marked down from $9.99)
Laci Slim Mix, $2.49
Nivea Kiss of Hydration, $2.99

Used the following:
$5 off $20 Rite Aid purchase
$1 off Listerine (12-6 RP?)
$5 off Slimquick (print twice)
$5 off Slimquick
Nivea BOGO coupon (1-3 RP)

Total Spent: $33.18

Will be getting back from rebate:
$5 for "Get Fit" rebate (spend $30 or more on specific items, including Slimquick)
$10 for Slimquick (must purchse 2)
$3 for Listerine

Total getting back from rebate: $18
Net total spent: $15.18

Please note that if you saved your $5/$20 coupon from January and earned one in February you could split an order like this in half and save an additional $5

It's not even the second week of January yet and I've almost gone through my $100 and I haven't even been to Target yet! How much more should I give myself for the rebates? $50? $25? Or should I just dip into February and see if it evens out in the end?

Total Spending for January: $3.07, $96.93 remaining

The challenge has begun!
I made a trip to Rite Aid and sent some of my family to CVS for me yesterday, this is what we purchased:

Rite Aid
- 5 Soy Joy Bars on sale 5/$3 with $3 SCR (single check rebate)

Total Spent: $3

CVS
- 1 Bayer Contour Meter, $14.99
- 3 2 liters of Diet Coke, $1
- 4.2 ounce tube of Colgate Total Advanced, $2.99
- 3 boxes of South Beach Diet Bars, 3/$10

Used the following:
Up to $30 off Bayer Contour Meter (10/25 RP)
$1 off Colgate printable
$1 off South Beach Diet printable
$12.99 in ECB (Extra Care Bucks)

Total OOP: $.07
Got back $13 in ECB

What is this?

I have decided that I am only going to spend $1200 for the year of 2010 on things that I buy (groceries, food, clothes, sundry items, etc). This is not including bills (like mortgage or electric) or gasoline for my car (although it will include vehicle maintenance such as oil changes).
This breaks down to $100 a month. Anything I get back from rebates will go back into the $100 and anything left over at the end of the month will get rolled into the next month. In the end, I hope to spend less then $1200 this year, it will be difficult, but I think I can do it.
